Koel Mallick is the daughter of Bengali actor Ranjit Mallick the Icon of
Bengali Films of the world and his wife Deepa. Her school name is Rukmini Mallick.
She prefers to use her nick-name in films too. Mallick has a B.Sc. (Hons)
in psychology from the Gokhale Memorial Girls' College, an affiliated college
of the University of Calcutta. She debuted with ‘Nater Guru’ (2003), with jeet directed
by Haranath Chakraborty. Nater Guru was a successful film at the box office.
